Chimney sweeping

Mechanical sweeping of chimneys and flues for open fireplaces, wood stoves, inserts or cassettes and other wood-burning appliances. Cleaning certificate on request.

How can we help?

Mastechnics cleans chimneys and flues mechanically with purpose-made equipment. Soot deposits are removed from the flue with brushes and suitable tools, for open fireplaces, wood stoves, inserts or cassettes, suspended fireplaces, soapstone stoves and other suitable wood-burning appliances. During the work we cover up and work carefully to keep dirt in your home to a minimum. After cleaning you can receive a cleaning certificate, which you can present to your insurance company on request.

  • Flue cleaning for an insert, cassette, suspended fireplace or soapstone stove
  • Poor draught, smoke blowing back or a smell of soot in the home

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have my chimney swept?

That depends on how often you burn and what you burn. For a wood stove or open fireplace in regular use, an annual sweep is the usual rule of thumb, and many fire insurers require periodic cleaning. If you burn intensively or notice poor draught, smoke blowing back or a smell of soot, an extra sweep is advisable.

Will I receive a cleaning certificate for my insurer?

Yes. After the sweep you can receive a cleaning certificate stating the date and the appliance cleaned. You can present it to your insurance company on request. Mention in your request that you need the certificate and we will prepare it straight away.

Which appliances do you sweep, and does it make a mess?

We clean the flue of open fireplaces, wood stoves, inserts or cassettes, suspended fireplaces, soapstone stoves and other suitable wood-burning appliances. Mechanical sweeping releases soot, but we cover the area around the fireplace and work carefully to keep dirt in your home to a minimum. It helps if the fireplace is cold and empty and the space around it is clear.
